“Bill Campbell is an incredible pastor, servant and friend. His book Turning Controversy into Church Ministry is excellent, compassionate and extremely relevant. I whole-heartedly recommend you read the book and get to know the man. Both are well worth your time.”

Alan Chambers
President, Exodus International

“Campbell nails this truth gracefully on the door of the local church. If you don’t take up the cause of the sexually broken, the world will. Badly. An excellent resource for equipping the church to administer the whole Gospel to gays.”

Andy Comiskey
President, Desert Streams Ministry

“We cannot leave this issue in the closet, so to speak. Christians have to examine their own hearts and see if their actions and reactions are truly built upon Christ and His love. Too long we have accepted behavior that upon inspection does not stand up to the light of scripture. Turning Controversy Into Church Ministry by W.P. Campbell is a good guide that helps us with this kind of heart scrutiny.”

“I just completed reading the pre-published book, Turning Controversy into Church Ministry by William Campbell, D.Min. Dr. Campbell covered the subject of homosexuality with great clarity and was fair and balanced in his presentation. This book not only gives clear instructions of how a church can minister to those struggling with homosexuality, but it is true to the Word of God. He clearly presents that change is possible. He does not 'beat up the church nor does he beat up those struggling with homosexuality,' he is very compassionate and yet truthful in his presentation. I recommend the book to every pastor and church leadership as well as those who struggle with homosexuality.

“I really appreciated the fact that Pastor Campbell wrote about this subject in a logical, reasoned manner, as opposed to the emotionally charged manner by which those on each side of the debate usually operate. He looks at the issues from a biblical and scientific perspective. I hope this book will be used by many to bring the love of Christ into the debate—a perspective that has been sadly lacking both from the Left and the Right. Personally, I plan to encourage pastors and other staff at the church we attend to read this important book...”

“I found this book to be healing as I struggle with my own position on the topic. Campbell is the sort of author you read and think, "Man, I'd like to sit down and have coffee with this guy. What a truly nice, spirit-led person." This could easily have become a book that was simply another list of "why you're wrong" bullet points, yet it maintains a great voice and personality throughout. While firm in his convictions, the author conveys love for all people.”

“I fall on the liberal side of this debate, but I think it’s important to point out, that despite that, I did not feel attacked by Campbell in reading this book. I feel that this book exemplifies what it means to speak the truth with grace. This book is desperately needed in the church today. I strongly recommend that everyone in some position of church leadership, be it pastoral or lay, read this book.”

“This is an intelligent engagement of homosexuality and the Christian response to it. It will equip and encourage any reader to understand and interact with a homosexual in a Christlike way. I learned so much from this book and was greatly challenged to change some of my responses to that culture and lifestyle. If a person is to do the same, he should set aside his entrenched philosophies and opinions, and read this book with an open heart. It will change your ministry mindset and tune it closer to God's heart for a hurting and lost culture.

This book has a TON to commend it. I love that Campbell is bold enough to be biblical and not politically correct. He truly believes that the way to love homosexuals is through the truth of the gospel. I also love that Campbell is not afraid to take on those that refuse to have compassion on the homosexual community. I think both groups, and all those in between, have quite a bit they can learn from this book.

Campbell has lots of wisdom and practical advice to offer in this book. I highly recommend it for all pastors, leaders in churches, teachers in Christian schools, and anyone who knows someone who is gay.

If there was ever a book “for such a time as this” in the life of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in the Church at large, the Rev. Bill Campbell’s Turning Controversy Into Church Ministry: A Christlike Response to Homosexuality is that book.

“Bill Campbell’s book, Turning Controversy into Church Ministry, is the best book I have read for a proper Christlike response to the issue. Bill gets to the heart of the problem immediately in a well presented exposition of balancing grace and truth, qualities that Jesus demonstrated for our use in the Church today. Bill gives good arguments and reasons to make people rethink how some groups are using Scripture to promote a gay lifestyle. The book communicates well using personal stories to make the key points practical. A must read for every Church leader, I will be recommending this book whenever I speak on the issue.

Author of four books on Homosexuality
